Another act leaked for the 2015 Laneway festival lineup?

Californian R&B singer Banks appears to have leaked her place on the Laneway festival lineup for 2015.

During an interview with FL’s Jody Macgregor, the rising star cagily revealed that she’s planning an Australian tour. However, when directly asked if the visit would be for Laneway, she soon dropped her guard revealing that she’s really excited about the tour. “I’ve never done anything like that, apparently you like travel with the festival for a week? Is that how it is?” she asked.

If the “leak” is correct, Banks will be travelling with the festival touring her debut album Goddess. Due for release next month, the album features the singles ‘Brain’, ‘Drowning’ and ‘Beggin for Thread’ and production from Sohn, Shlomo, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and regular Lana Del Rey-collaborator Justin Parker.

The Laneway confirmation from Banks comes just days after fellow BBC Sound of 2014 act FKA Twigs leaked her place on the festival lineup. BBC Sound is often a strong indicator of acts that we’re likely to see on our festival lineups in the coming year, with four artists from this year’s Laneway lineup – including Haim, Chvrches, King Krule, and Savages – having appeared on the 2013 shortlist. In addititon to Banks and FKA Twigs this year’s BBC Sound list also features Royal Blood, Sampha, Kelela, Jungle and Chance the Rapper.

Other acts rumoured as possibilities for Laneway 2015 include Thumpers and Sohn, who were both in Australia for “showcase” tours presented by the Laneway promoters at the start of the month. Earlier in the year the festival’s promoters also gave some lineup clues when they shared their highlights of South by Southwest festival. The acts they earmarked included The Preatures, Arthur Beatrice, St Vincent, Norway’s Highasakite and rappers Vic Mensa and Joey Fatts. The festival also hosted its own showcase which featured Eagulls, Perfect Pussy, Fat White Family, Forest Swords, Glass Animals, Mutual Benefit, Sohn, The Range and Tourist.

The full interview with Banks will be published on FL in the coming weeks.
