Airline “fuck up” causes band to cancel Soundwave set in Melbourne

Soundwave festival has announced that Mindless Self Indulgence have been forced to cancel their set on Stage 2 at 1.15pm at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse today.

Festival boss AJ Maddah has reported that the cancellation was caused by Virgin airlines, who have lost the band’s bags and equipment. The band had played a headline show in Melbourne on Tuesday before returning to Sydney for a show at The Hi-Fi with support from The Blackout, and Cerebral Ballzy.

The festival was also forced to cancel Garbage’s festival set in Sydney due to a transport mishap. According to Maddah Garbage worked closely with the festival promoters to reschedule the set but unfortunately the band’s gear simply did not arrive in time.

Soundwave kicked off a little later than planned in Melbourne this morning, with organisers forced to delay opening the gates while they fixed sections of the crowd barriers. After Melbourne, the festival travels to Adelaide’s Bonython Park tomorrow (March 2), before winding up at Perth’s Claremont Showground in Perth on Monday. All dates are sold out.

Acts performing at this year’s Soundwave include Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink-182, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring and Paramore.
