5ive could be touring Australia this year
The promoters Big Apachee seem to have found an old address book that had fallen behind a disused fax machine and will be touring Eifel 65, N-Trance, S Club 7, Big Brovaz and Wheatus later this year. And now they’re threatening to add 5ive to the tour schedule.
The sinister Simon Cowell creation will tour Australia later this year if promoters can convince 4000 people to come along (or at least hit ‘like’ on a Facebook page.) So if you really need to witness Ritchie Neville, Abs Breen, Sean Conlon and Scott Robinson (winner of the ‘Best Haircut’ award from Smash Hits magazine for three years running from ‘97-’99) performing near you get over to Facebook now. Sadly, (sadly?!) original member J Brown has recently declared that “I will never again appear in the public eye or accept ANY offer of work that puts me in the public eye as I just want to get on with my life as a regular dude.”
5ive existed as a male answer to the Spice Girls between 1997 and 2001 issuing classic singles including Slam Dunk (Da Funk) and the slightly confusing double Everybody Get Up and If Ya Gettin’ Down. They attempted a reunion back in 2006 but just eight months later they split again after failing to secure a record deal. Now, following a failed Voice audition from Sean Conlon, they’re going to give the reunion another go. We swear we’re not making it up.
The 5ive tour Facebook page currently has just over 2000 fans and the promoters are calling on more fans to like this page “if you want to see all original members of 5IVE reform and come to Australia for a reunion tour… We are almost halfway however with all the great comments and how fast people have grabbed onto this page – I think it gives me enough to convince them… hopefully! Will have official news soon!”
