Triple j Unearthed have announced their 50 most played artists for 2016

It’s that time of the year. Yes, the festive season – but most importantly the season of end of year lists. Today, triple j Unearthed get in the game by revealing their top 50 most played artists of the year.

Coming in at number 1 is Alex Lahey, who had a huge year including landing the Unearthed Splendour slot, and releasing her critically acclaimed EP B-Grade University. Melbourne duo Fortunes. are at number 2, and soul artist Wallace takes out the number 3 position.

Elsewhere, festival favourite Tash Sultana is at 10, Gold Coast wunderkind Mallrat is at 14, and Perth band Mosquito Coast come in at 28. Three Unearthed High finalists made the list too: Gretta Ray, LASTLINGS, and Tia Gostelow.

In an assuring stat, female-fronted acts count for 60% of the overall list.
